Discusses proposal to fix up the aerial telescope of Christiaan Huygens so as to compare his drawings of Saturn with observations made by contemporary observers using Huygens's telescope. Expresses skepticism about the project.
On 10 Dec., JH, George Peacock, and William Whewell were named to R.S.L. committee to cooperate with B.A.A.S. for purpose of continuing observations of terrestrial magnetism.
Sends photograph of drawing of lunar crater Copernicus made with reflector at Rome, to aid B.A.A.S.'s effort in comparing moon's surface with that of earth.
R.S.L. Council voted additional £20 for reduction of JH's catalogue of nebulae. Inform Walter White where money should be sent.
