The Sir John Herschel Collection
The preparation of the print Calendar of the Correspondence of Sir John Herschel (Michael J. Crowe ed., David R. Dyck and James J. Kevin assoc. eds, Cambridge, England: Cambridge Univ. Press, 1998, viii + 828 pp) which was funded by the National Science Foundation, took ten years. It was accomplished by a team of seventeen professors, visiting scholars, graduate students, advanced undergraduates, and staff working at the University of Notre Dame.
The first online version of Calendar was created in 2009 by Dr Marvin Bolt and Steven Lucy, working at the Webster Institute of the Adler Planetarium, and it is that data that has now been reformatted for incorporation into Ɛpsilon.

Mr. Chadwick, who is now RO's guest, believes that one of JH's sons is at a preparatory school near Clapham. Would welcome JH's advice on a suitable school.

Instead of index of all printed papers relating to Mint requested by JH, GB suggests set of indexes from 1800 to 1852 by Mr. Hausard. [Note from 'm' to JH on verso: 'Have you not the "railiamutard" Indexes already at the Mint?']
Is waiting for JH's comments on the first draft of the Standards Commission report [see GA's 1853-9-8].
'Delighted' to hear that JH is in 'such good spirits.' Has been giving regular class lectures.
Does not know of the details of French or American coinage, but Augustus de Morgan has undertaken to find someone to help JH with this problem.
Believes that the moon has some influence on the amount of rainfall and sends some of his observations on this subject. Welcomes any comments.
