Sends JH a mathematical theorem.
On the deviation from the perpendicular of falling bodies.
Knows nothing of the enmity of Humphry Davy towards [John] Herapath. The purpose of JH's last letter was to point out that Herapath was in error in his solution of certain equations. Must consider correspondence closed.
Heard of Herapath's new powerful geometry methods. No new views of differential calculus on Continent. Refers to those of William Spence annexed to JH's Mathematical Essays...(1819). Explains object of combinatory analysis, popular among Germans. Has not seen M. C. T. de Damoiseau's paper on lunar theory.
Declines an opportunity to consult [with JH?].
