Is pleased to inform him that the Admiralty has ordered a transit circle for the Cape.
Encloses a letter from Thomas Maclear regarding the resignation of his assistant, George Childe. Would like JH's opinion on the appointment of Maclear's sons to succeed Childe.
Thinks that a note must have miscarried as he is sure he informed him that the Admiralty had appointed Thomas Maclear's son [George Maclear] an assistant at the Cape and his other son [John Maclear] to a ship.
