Sending a book of Henry Moseley for JH's comments, and would be pleased if he would supply a testimonial for Moseley's use.
Thanks for his reply, which he will pass on to Dr. Henry Moseley. Mr. Atkinson is in town and it may be advisable to bring Thomas Beckwith's affairs to a conclusion.
John [Stewart] arrived with news that JH's basket never reached MH. JH will come to London tomorrow. Baby Caroline is at Windsor with grandmother Mary Herschel.
[Responding to SR's 1830-9-6], provides information on James Bradley's observation; also notes a 'striking' anomaly in observation. Mentions study JH is doing on the Castor star system and JH's observations of Uranus's two moons.
His wife died 13 September of the intermittent fever she had suffered for last seven years, she was attended by Dr Probart and Dr Smith, and his in Rome unaware of the news as letters take a month. Did not burn any of her husbands letter [Sir James Edward Smith], though it will time consuming to collect them. Praises Dawson Turner.
In postscript writes that he just received a China vase from Dresden without any damage, would like Turner to confirm the genus and species of the moss it was packed with.
