Sending the manuscript of James Dunlop's paper.
Has written an obituary notice of F. W. Bessel for the R.S.L. Has arranged for the printers to send JH a proof and would be glad to receive any comments as it was hurriedly written.
Is obliged for his encouraging note. G. B. Airy has sent him two useful pamphlets on F. W. Bessel, which JH may care to see. Duties of the President of the R.A.S. should not prove too difficult as W. H. Smyth can do most of the duties.
Sending a revised copy of his own memoir on F. W. Bessel. Council of the R.A.S. have not awarded a medal this year.
Has received JH's letter and also the one of [J. H.?] Griesbach. These will be read at the next meeting of the R.A.S. Thinks enough has been written about E. J. Cooper's planets.
Outlining the circumstances leading to JH's name being proposed for the new council of the R.S.L. Hopes he will agree to his name being proposed.
Has sent the review of George Everest's Indian Survey to Longmans. Fears it is hard and dry after JH's review of Kosmos. If JH decides to publish it, would he let him have it back for revision.
Sending particulars concerning George Everest's Arc of Meridian. Would be glad if they could be returned when he has read them as he intends writing an article on them for Taylor's Journal.
The paragraph he sent JH was not intended for his address. Augustus De Morgan must be under some misapprehension. Has asked De Morgan to send JH the revised form.
Has been extracting some paragraphs from JH's Cape Results for Taylor's Philosophical Magazine. Hopes he approves. Unable to get to the last meeting of the Astronomical.
Sending a complete copy of the excerpts from JH's book [Cape Results]. One or two of the pictures are not by JH. Thinks a fuller abstract would have been useful.
