The Sir John Herschel Collection
The preparation of the print Calendar of the Correspondence of Sir John Herschel (Michael J. Crowe ed., David R. Dyck and James J. Kevin assoc. eds, Cambridge, England: Cambridge Univ. Press, 1998, viii + 828 pp) which was funded by the National Science Foundation, took ten years. It was accomplished by a team of seventeen professors, visiting scholars, graduate students, advanced undergraduates, and staff working at the University of Notre Dame.
The first online version of Calendar was created in 2009 by Dr Marvin Bolt and Steven Lucy, working at the Webster Institute of the Adler Planetarium, and it is that data that has now been reformatted for incorporation into Ɛpsilon.

Received his note on the Great Pyramid when travelling in Scotland. Quoted in his reply to C. P. Smyth. Encloses a note from F. D. Wackerbarth of Uppsala. Will be sending him the volumes containing the photographs of the Sinai survey.
JH's kind letter and enclosures came when she was ill, which accounts for the delay in replying. Is exceedingly grateful for all the autographs. Her brother-in-law [R. S. Newall] has erected a 25" telescope at Gateshead and doubtless would be pleased to show it to JH. Would be grateful for any photographs to go with the autograph collection.

Bank intends to publish letters and papers relating to 'Gold Coinage Controversy.' Does JH object to including JH's 'Half a dozen Propositions respecting the Gold Coinage'? [JH annotation: Answered 4 Feb; approved, and enclosed corrected copy.]
