The Sir John Herschel Collection
The preparation of the print Calendar of the Correspondence of Sir John Herschel (Michael J. Crowe ed., David R. Dyck and James J. Kevin assoc. eds, Cambridge, England: Cambridge Univ. Press, 1998, viii + 828 pp) which was funded by the National Science Foundation, took ten years. It was accomplished by a team of seventeen professors, visiting scholars, graduate students, advanced undergraduates, and staff working at the University of Notre Dame.
The first online version of Calendar was created in 2009 by Dr Marvin Bolt and Steven Lucy, working at the Webster Institute of the Adler Planetarium, and it is that data that has now been reformatted for incorporation into Ɛpsilon.

Charles Elouis discovered errors in Mint accounts since 1837 that explain earlier discrepancies. JH requests authority from Treasury commissioners to adjust previous accounts to correct those errors.
Begin copper coinage for Ireland as soon as pressure for gold and silver coinage slackens. Quantity is not known, but it will be considerable. Mr. Watt is needed in Bahamas; plan to get new clerk from Customs House to replace Watt. CT is arranging for Mr. Julyan to remain as long as JH needs Julyan. Encloses extract from letter by Rev. Walker of Liverpool.
Is sorry that Sydney University was not too happy with one of the professors chosen, but feels the Sydney Trust made the right choice [see GA's 1852-11-22].
