LH's meteorological circular register was laid before the Meteorological Committee, which considers it worthy of notice. Comments on this, and would like to discuss the matter further.

Departure of J. C. Ross for Antarctic expedition is approaching. Hopes that Admiralty will soon authorize R.S.L. to assist Ross in preparing instruments and coordinating global observations.
Chairman of H.E.I.C. granted permission for Major [Tenis] to delay departure to India for one month in order to become better acquainted with instruments to be used in magnetic observatories there.
Reticent to accept fellowship of London University if obligations of time and attention are too great. Requests more time to consider responsibilities of the post.
Dublin University is available on 2 July for instruction of the officers to be employed in the magnetic observatories. Suggests a note be sent to the R.S.L. stating that the changes in instrumentation are only slight modifications.
Supports furnishing a wooden building at St. Helena despite the high temperatures of the tropical climate. Considers the expenses involved.
JH's brother-in-law John Stewart, who is delivering this letter, seeks admission to a printing establishment. Asks AQ to aid JS. Lists recently received letters. Glad that AQ has [C. F.] Gauss's apparatus. Discusses an experiment in photography.
