Accepts offer of stereotype plates from Murray for Climbing plants, and will give same terms.
Has only just made Insectivorous plants ready. Long and favourable review just appeared in Times.
Wants to publish Variation and so will approach Judd & Co. [publishers of first U. S. edition (1868)].
Has secured rights to Variation from Judd & Co.; had to pay $350 [dollars or pounds!?] for old plates and promise 50% discount on 150 copies of the new edition. Hopes Murray’s charge for plates of new edition will not exceed cost of doing the work in the U. S. Judd lost out considerably from small sale of his edition.
Can cut the electros from the plates of the illustrations for the new edition of Variation if they are the same as in the first edition.
Has received plates for Climbing plants and will print immediately.
