The Sir John Herschel Collection
The preparation of the print Calendar of the Correspondence of Sir John Herschel (Michael J. Crowe ed., David R. Dyck and James J. Kevin assoc. eds, Cambridge, England: Cambridge Univ. Press, 1998, viii + 828 pp) which was funded by the National Science Foundation, took ten years. It was accomplished by a team of seventeen professors, visiting scholars, graduate students, advanced undergraduates, and staff working at the University of Notre Dame.
The first online version of Calendar was created in 2009 by Dr Marvin Bolt and Steven Lucy, working at the Webster Institute of the Adler Planetarium, and it is that data that has now been reformatted for incorporation into Ɛpsilon.

Is waiting for JH's comments on the first draft of the Standards Commission report [see GA's 1853-9-8].
Regarding future improvements at Mint that would involve Board of Works, JH prefers to postpone major renovations that JH suggested in Dec. 1852. Notes two minor repairs needed in Melting Room.
Hopes CB will dine with JH at Hawkhurst next week as JH hears CB will be in the neighborhood.
Realizes that JH's 1853-12-22 will not reach JC. Makes arrangements for JC to send JH's daughter Julia to meet JH and to return to Collingwood with him on the weekend.
Makes arrangements to accompany Miss Julia Cameron [daughter of JC] to Collingwood. Thanks for JC's intervention on behalf of JH's nephew, Mr. Stewart. Expresses interest in Charles Hay Cameron's new undertaking.
Mr. Chadwick, who is now RO's guest, believes that one of JH's sons is at a preparatory school near Clapham. Would welcome JH's advice on a suitable school.
