The Sir John Herschel Collection
The preparation of the print Calendar of the Correspondence of Sir John Herschel (Michael J. Crowe ed., David R. Dyck and James J. Kevin assoc. eds, Cambridge, England: Cambridge Univ. Press, 1998, viii + 828 pp) which was funded by the National Science Foundation, took ten years. It was accomplished by a team of seventeen professors, visiting scholars, graduate students, advanced undergraduates, and staff working at the University of Notre Dame.
The first online version of Calendar was created in 2009 by Dr Marvin Bolt and Steven Lucy, working at the Webster Institute of the Adler Planetarium, and it is that data that has now been reformatted for incorporation into Ɛpsilon.

Hopes JH will present application of Kew Committee for financial aid at next council meeting. Includes suggestions for maximizing credibility of application.
Sends four issues of Practical Mechanic's Journal and unpublished article, all referring to JH's and to [Richard] Trevithick's contributions to subject of ice making. John Gorrie has attacked WJ's view. Asks JH to confirm facts in articles.

Has discovered a seventh planet [Kalliope]. Gives readings.
Begin copper coinage for Ireland as soon as pressure for gold and silver coinage slackens. Quantity is not known, but it will be considerable. Mr. Watt is needed in Bahamas; plan to get new clerk from Customs House to replace Watt. CT is arranging for Mr. Julyan to remain as long as JH needs Julyan. Encloses extract from letter by Rev. Walker of Liverpool.
