Royal patent and warrant for Master to coin were discovered in R. L. Sheil's cellar. These are now safely at Mint.

Jasper Atkinson refuses to take charge of the Coining Room. HH believes that Moneyers intend to subvert Mint reforms. Hopes to recruit Captain [Turner] for this Coining Room.

Urges JH to advertise in London papers for candidates for Chief Coiner. This would show Mint officers that 'there is no difficulty in filling vacant places quickly with efficient people.' Writes advertisement describing position and benefits.

Sends proposed letter expressing regret that Henry Bingley refuses to accept the office of resident Assayer. Will arrange meeting with Mr. Blake. Received two testimonials for William Buckle.
