From Emma Darwin to G. H. Darwin [11 June 1881]

[Glenridding House, Patterdale, Penrith.]

Sat

My dear George

I hope you will be able to come next week— Hen. & Leo will be here, & I hope William.

Penrith is called 16 miles & Troutbeck is called 10—both more than the reality. The drive is beautiful. You can tel. here to have a vehicle sent to Troutbeck or telegraph to Troutbeck where Mrs Ruck did find a dog cart: Leo was in hopes of a real fine day today but it is clouded over— The Litches & Bessy are going to Troutbeck to start R. on his way home; & poss yours dear Geo—

It will be nice to have you

yours E. D

We think you had better telegraph here—
