From Emma Darwin to G. H. Darwin [21 April 1884]

The Grove, Huntingdon Road, Cambridge.

Monday

My dear George

Hen. writes me word of your most unfortunate attack— I am afraid there is no chance of your being able to go with Maud. on Wed. & it will be very sad for her to leave you so unwell

I have had a note from Sir John Lubbock announcing his engagement to Miss Fox Pitt dau. of Gen. Pitt Rivers— He asks me to tell my sons & daus. & asks when you are to be married (which I have answered) but I suppose you should write a line to High Elms when well enough—

yours my dear George | E. Darwin

You remember what a good nurse Bessy Pearce is 31 Goodge Street— Would she be of any use— I don't suppose she cd leave her sister for the nights.

I rejoice at the rain today—
