From Emma Darwin to G. H. Darwin [23 April 1884]]

Wed–

My dear George—

I had a note from Maud saying you were much better—

She is now on board I hope & beginning her voyage w. an East wind which is right—

I enclose some pleasant words about her from Mrs Crafts to Sara— I hope we shall see you on Friday

yours dear G— | E. D—

We were expecting Emily Thorley today but she is afraid of the E. wind— & it is very brilliant today—

[Enclosure]

After very cordial mention of you, & saying how much they like you Mrs Crafts says of Maud—

Miss DuPuy came to us twice during the few days she was here & I thought her quite charming; so simple & unaffected & I should think also intelligent & sensible
