My dear George
I have just got yr letter of July 5 from Newport I am so vexed that you have not heard from me yet I wrote to you soon after your departure addressed to— Reynolds Esq Erie—as that was the address left w. the maid at Springfield. Then I wrote after receiving yours from Sandy Hook addressed to Spruce St— I have also heard from you from Spruce St We have heard of you from Cambridge U. S that you were made much of; & I think it must all have been very pleasant. Yesterday the 17th we were wondering whether that was your wedding day. I wish I had asked you to tel. You can't be so hot at Erie that is one comfort—
We have just been packing off the little children to Ida at 66— She has left Horace for another week at Malvern. I am afraid he does not feel that it has done him much good, at least he was quite knocked up by an exped. to Worcester, only an hour by rail. The Franks have returned to the Grove from Aberdovey; & they have sent Bernard & Pauline to pay us a visit. I think B's manners are r. improved & he is very good to Rasmus—who is a most charming little dog.
Laura leaves us on Monday, & very sorry we are to lose her— She goes to Clapham; but as Henrietta Synnot promises to be away she will be quite comfortable there. We expect the Leonards today, & I hope the Frasers may also come for a few days— I am afraid Sara will not come here as her Dr has so strongly advised quiet—but I believe it wd be good for her & Theo. would come too— Sally is very happy w. the Burne Jones. Miss Miss Gilman is just sailing from S–amton & from Wms house— She is very unwell— Give my best love to Maude I long to hear of your marriage— I have written to Mrs Jebb to beg her to write to me & tell me all about everything
yours my dear George— I suppose I had better put the name of Reynolds on this
yours E. Darwin
