From Emma Darwin to G. H. Darwin [30 September 1885]

Down

Wed—

My dear George

We will be provided with the stout which is easy—

About Rittler we do not want him, tho' no doubt he wd be useful— We cannot however give him a bed in the house, & as we have Mrs Jackson as footman, we do very well so settle whichever you like yourself. After Monday we shall be a small party as the Horace's & Litches will be gone— Laura goes on Friday & stayed chiefly to have a sight of you & Maud—

You will have her soom & the baby close at Hand in the North room.

We did not think it worth while to move her for one night, & so I hope Maud won't mind sleeping in No 7— on Thursday, & coming down on Friday. Gwen will be treated w. proper respect as soon as she comes— You will be in No 1— for that night. Maud told me how poorly you had been— it was v. unlucky   The cold was quite remarkable here—

Bessy will miss the first part of your visit as she is going to The Camp. & L. H. P. but on the other hand it is very nice for me to have you during her absence—

You shall be met at Orp. 4–50– w. close carriage—

If luggage overflows you must take a fly—

w. best love to Maud it it nice to think we shall have a comf. sized visit from you all | Yours E. D–
