My dear George
William has heard from Sir Joseph that Gen. Strachey has seen Lord Salisbury, about the affair, & that he would wish nothing more to be done for the present— I hope I have done no harm in the matter, as I understood from Lady H. that I was authorized to send the memorial to you— she not knowing about Gen Strachey It was a very good thought your making a précis of the contents, which wd be quite as useful as reading the whole— Would it be advisable to tell Mr Balfour that I had by Lady H's wish tried to stop any action in the matter but was too late— Wm. is rather for doing no more either way—
He has just received a tel from Mrs Langton at Frankfurt imploring help. C. Langton is ill in a "strange state" & she wants the help of a man— I fear it must be insanity. William starts almost directly but cannot reach Frankfurt before 5 p.m. tomorrow–- It may be a terrible situation for her—
It will be nice to see you all on Friday p. m—
yours my dear George | E. Darwin
