[The Grove, Cambridge.]
My dear George
A tel. has just come saying that all was peacefully over last night. My impression is that you need not put off the party; but I think Maud must wear a black dress on that occasion, even if she does not go into regular mourning afterwards (about which I am quite indifferent)
I think under these circumstances we shall talk family matters better if Carrie does not come tomorrow— I shall hope to see you & Maud—
Unluckily the tel came too late to stop Bessy; but Ida will help me in everything that need be done—
yours dear G | E. D
I can send for you & return you—
