From Emma Darwin to G. H. Darwin and Maud Darwin 1 April 1893

The Grove, Huntingdon Road, Cambridge.

Ap 1–93.

My dear G. & M—

The weather is just like summer— I sit at the open window but I have not been out again—& the warmth does me up— What a funny little wretch Margt is!

The Diceys came on Thursday. He is pretty cheerful politically   He is engaged at Whitehaven on Monday & at Stoke on Tuesday— He will stay at Idlerocks— Elinor looks well & comf. The Sidgwicks dine today which will try Mrs Goude; but we think she will do. The children still cough & whoop but go about & seem well—so it is a good thing over.

England is practically governed now by the 80 Irish— I wonder how long we shall submit— Leo. has 4 meetings just after Parlt meets— He has arranged 4 consecutive speeches—wh. makes it more laborious—

He is now playing golf at E–bourne—

I am glad you get some drilling done—

I saw Miss [Paues] the other day. She has a pleasant open face— Her hat almost grazed the door way as she went out of the room— Ida returns the end of next week— She had hard work not to return this week. She has been staying at Nice, where she gets nice walks w. Mercy—but the place is not to her taste— Mercy has to stay there w. sick friends—

Yours my dear G. & M. | E. D.

I like letters so much & ev.thing about the chicks
