My dear George
I am rather disappted at the effect of my change to Down—but the weather has been horrid—so I have never written to you—
You have had a great bustle—but I hope you are nearly at the end of it. Ida came yesterday & she stays with me while Bessy goes to Mr Treves. I do not think she is very nervous about it & the lump in her cheek is so very near the surface I hope it will be a slight operation. It will be a weight off her mind— This place looks rather dismal & a gt contrast to last year as the foliage is poor & the Ilexes look sick & even the Scotch firs seem to have suffered from last years drought—as there are dead branches— Hen. enjoyed the sight of her darlings pleasure at the Tournament & Charley duly made his little civil speech at parting. By Ida's acct they all enjoyed it heartily especially the "Bullune" which she wrote to Eras about
Yours my 2 dear ones— | I hope Maud keeps pretty well—
yours E. Darwin
I have been round the sand walk several times, but I am not very brisk—
