My dear George
I am beginning to want some news of you & Maud— I have now had an excellent fortnight. It seemed absurd to let Dr Moore come; but I wanted him & Dr Scott to see me together at my best, so that I could send for Dr S. on small provocation. Dr M. encouraged me to make small adventures, such as walking more or even walking downstairs. The weather has been most dismal & poor G Snow has made several attempts to save his cut hay—
Lady D. called on Sat. & I got M. Shaen to stay in the room—wh. was a gt help— Lady D. has been building a boarded cottage for her son Lionel in Knole park— It cost £ 165 & is removable—but she has made it uncomf— small I think—
I was v. sorry to lose M. on Sat—
Bessy is almost quite as usual & walks & drives—-
The Leo's come on Fri— & go today. He is very tired & longing for the end of the session. He wd I think get a pair at once but for the Evicted Tenants bill—which must be fought
The idiotic & wicked folly of the Irish about O'Donovan Rossa comes in v. à propos just now—& also about electing Dale for Clan?—
How lucky Horace was to have a fine day for his exped. w. his men to Ely—wh. he quite enjoyed—
My best love to Maud & the dear chicks—
yours my dear G— | E. Darwin
