My dear George

You & Maud must have had a very anxious time for those 2 bad days— Now that the baby is taking its food well I hope you are quite easy about him. We shall be very glad of a card for the next few days—

One of my babies had jaundice within the first week & she slept hours & we cd hardly awake her to take food—

Savernake sounds quite charming. Are you not afraid of their losing their way or meeting rough people when you are not with them—

The Leonards are going to visit the Hiks at Corby Castle on Wed (she was a Miss Grove). It is a beautiful place— Leo. was nice & idle except for practising golf & croquet & was quite rested—

He was well listened to at Leicester; but he is glad that his speech was not reported, as now he can make use of it again—

Poor little Pauline is here, not near such a wreck as I expected to see her—

I believe Bessy having her to see her at Neuchatel gave her courage to break away from her brute of a brother & come away leaving her affairs to take care of themselves, as there is no chance of her ever getting any money out of them. Bernard will do his best; but he must be r. a disappt to her. It is a difficult situation for him as he will have nothing to say to her.

Here is Bessy to read when you are studious & burn—

My best love to Maud—who is "Robert" like.

yours | E. Darwin
