My dea George
It is so nice here in this lovely weather I wish you were here, & all of you esp. Gwenny—but we shall be nearly full till Tuesday. Today come the Litches & Arthur Juke, also Amy W. & on Sunday the Leos for that day only— Lady Derby & I talked politics. She is amazed at the dishonourable conduct of the Govt whip in delaying nearly a month to inform the Opp. & Mr Villins of W. E. G's defection— I hope it will be last ounce—
I recd this from Wm as no doubt you have also— I have no doubt Lett & Snow will settle matters fairly— W. Snow is our best debtor as the coal bills come in handy to pay— Lady D. looks so well & is quite her old self—
B. saw the Sutherlands yesterday & the Wrights Mrs W. m. better— B. is just off to Idlerocks— Leo. still fills the Times— His opponents are a great contrast to his style.
yours my dear G. & Maud | yours E. Darwin
The hay is nothing like last year's crop—
