My dear George

The same delightgful weather w. a high S W wind— This mg it has rained a little; but it is all bright again—

I am going to send John (who is turned Con) & Price home to visit their families for 2 days, & they will take the opp. to vote— Hen came yesterday & read me some letters of R— H is v. busy & is of great use to Leo—more in the way of writing letters & arranging things than in canvassing. He is pretty hopeful–- I am afraid the Cons are nearly as unscrupulous as the G. L's— He tells of a picture on the walls of a happy family under the U—s w. a contrast of a starving family under the G. Ls—

Miss Block is a v. pleasant visitor— Bessy & she went to a garden party at Bromley Common—a beaut. p. m; but rather a contrast in point of numbers to the old Norman days & the small assembly looked empty in the great lawn— Miss Block goes today. It seems a pity that John & the Brougham shd not be used as he is on the spot; but the horse is the difficulty. What an amusing & powerful speech Chamberlain's was— Your letter just come— It is pleasant so many trying to secure Coe Fen flat

I am glad the children so well— I have had an almost cheerful letter from Mrs Huxley—

yours my dear G. & M.

Emma Darwin

I will do as you propose about the box—
