From Emma Darwin to G. H. Darwin 26 July [1895]

Down, Farnborough, R. S. O. Kent.

July 26

My dear George

Bessy & I have recovered our spirits enough to gloat over our painted map of the elections   It is quite wonderful—- I cd almost be sorry about Mr Morley, as he is the one honest Home Ruler—

Leonard & Bee are still overwhelmed w. answering & they will come to us on the 6th for a week—

I gather that Bee keeps up— Hen was at Miss Clarks at Longton, & heard from the parson then that steps had been taken against Fulford; but I don't believe it, as it cd only be L's interest to do it, & he is firm against any petition. Godfrey's carriage was hard at work at Rugeley for L. & the coachman saw may hired carriages for Fulford; the L's had heard also the same thing' But his agent must have some dodge to make it safe—

Sara has been w. us since Tuesday & Wm comes today—

The Ernests have had a case of Scarlet fever in the house & do not come— Mary is m. alarmed about the baby & has sent him to Snow, & the patient to the hoispital, & of course they don't come here—

The weather is v. [uncert] but pleasant—

The Sutherlands are going to move to another house belonging to his mother— It is a gt loss to the village—

I have had a gracious letter from the bride saying how comf. they are— No doubt you have called, as they clearly wd like it— How does your flat go on? You saw the letter from a Mr Lawrence about the rogue's trick.

my best love to Maud, yours my dear G. | E Darwin
