From W. E. Darwin to Emma Darwin [21 October 1877]

. . . had directed & posted 80 to 90 circulars and fixed everything straight which was not a bad day in addition to the Bank.

So I enjoyed my Saturday with Sara driving her about lunching with Eras & dining with her in the evening you may guess. She gets more perfect if possible the more I know her, and no one out of my shoes can imagine how delightful she can be. We go and dine at 1 o'clock today with her cousin Miss Williams, and afterwards we go and call on Mr Simon & Fanny Kendle. I have to go back tonight. We have fixed the day for Nov 28th so she will have to leave Down on Tuesday week to go & "sleep her parish" at her Uncles.

You will see me on Friday & I should hope Sara & Theodora.

What splendid news about Richard, it sounds too good— I send Miss Ashburners most kind letter.

Goodbye dear Mother | Your affect W. E. D.
