From A. H. Haig to W. E. Darwin 10 July 1882

32. Randolph gardens, Kilburn, London N. W.

July 10th 1882.

Dear Sir,

I returned from Down on Saturday and I think I have got a sufficiently accurate study for the etching, as well as a sketch of the Garden-front. I will commence in a day or two as I want to finish by the end of this month with my summer work. As regards terms, I can not yet decide what the published price will be, but from that a third will deducted for the trade i. e. the dealers, and I think it perfectly fair that you and all the members of your family, as well as a few intimate friends, should they desire a copy, should have the etching at that smaller price; so that is quite understood. I do not know what numbers you may require but there can be no objection to some two dozen or thirty should you require so many.

As for the rest,— I cannot not even insist upon your taking any, as the etching may turn out a failure, in which case I won't let it go out at all, and I have made up my mind to take the risk.

Believe me | Yours faithfully | A. H. Haig
