From A. H. Haig to W. E. Darwin 29 July 1882

32, Randolph Gardens, Kilburn London N. W

July 29th 1882.

Dear Sir!

I have now finished the etching of your fathers study, and should like you to see it before anything further is done about it. I have as yet only got two proofs, and they are mounted so I can not send them per post. I might send one between boards as parcel, but I wished first to ascertain if you are at home. Best would be if you could do me the favour of a call here I shall be in town until Wednesday evening, and then in town again in three or four days. I stay for only a very short time before going abroad. After Wednesday a proof can be seen at Mr Dunthorne's "The Cabinet of Fine art" Vigo street, Regent street. To begin with, subject to your approval, the number you desire would be printed, but as I should like to sign those as well as the others they could be sent with the rest abroad to me to be signed as has been done several times before, when I have had proofs sent to Sweden. It appears to me neccessary that the etching should not be published any later than September. Would you be kind enough to advise me about the title, which ought to be short.

Believe me | Yours faithfully | A H Haig

W. E. Darwin Esqr
