From Emma Darwin to W. E. Darwin [13 November 1862]

Effie & Hope are coming to us tomorrow & Ernest on Sat. & the boys are also coming so they will have some agonies on Sunday & must take their fill of billiards on Saturday night.

By the way Cumberland has promised to come to us for a week on the 26th Dec. so I hope you will be able to get an exeat for that time. Hen. is going to the Bonham Carters for a day today.

They had a visit from Lady Cran. when I was away & a little flirtation with her always pleases your father. London was full of the gerotting & Colenso's book on the Pentalluck which they say is very tiresome. The Duke of Argyle has written an article on Supernaturalism in the Ed. Rev. He is quite opposed to your fathers views but he praises the Orchids in such an enthusiastic way that he will do it a good turn. The article is so obscure I cd not understand it.

Hensleigh & Snow have written an Article in Mac Millan on Max-Müller & that I suspect is equally obscure.

Here is Frank's accounts which he always makes amusing.

Goodbye my dear Wm— E D.
