From Emma Darwin to W. E. Darwin [early August 1863]

4 Chester Place

My dear William

As you are a trustee & your fathers being able to come up to the wedding is very doubtful I think you had better come up for it & I will pay your journey. It will make it easier for him not to go. However if you have any reason against coming except the bore of it a good reason would do very well & you had better write me a note with a message to her thanking her for asking you & giving your good wishes. She & Charles are both looking happy & well so that the wedding will be a much more cheerful affair than I expected. I suppose you wd come strait up here & return & sleep at Down where G. will be also.

I don't think it will take place earlier than eleven on Tuesday You have to sign some deeds too.
