From Emma Darwin to W. E. Darwin [22 May 1864]

Down

Monday

My dear Wm

Your acct of yr party was 2 or 3 days in Parslow's pocket & only appeared yesterday. It was gorgeous & I shd have liked to have seen it. It was lucky your having such a helper as Mr Sandford—

The boys have had a nice visit & Edmund joined them. He is so much improved in singing I expect to hear of him coming out as Leporello. Snow came on Wed. very unwell & pulled down with all she has gone thro'. They all clear off today & Hen. with them to Aunt Cath. for Hamlet & possibly & Opera.

Mack. keeps very much the same.

Dr Jenner came yesterday & thought Papa had made good progress. He is sending off his Lythrum paper to be copied & he really does a tidy bit of work every day.

Good bye dear old man | E. D.
