From Emma Darwin to H. E. Darwin [8 August 1862]

My dear Hen—

I was not very bad yesterday & am tol. today. If you are not brisk tomorrow don't go to the Internat. as I am pretty sure to take a look at it the end of Oct. with Aunt Cath. who has asked me & you shd go too. Give my love to Miss P. & tell her I will answer any letter willingly which the lady may write. You had better buy Lizzy a cheap alpaca or Carmelite at South, or one of those cheap bareges not very light coloured. Her light muslins will do her little good at the sea— & it might be made at South. with a jacket like yours if she likes. or another brown stripe like the one she had (Edwards & Miller). & sleeves down to the wrist

I hope some of the boys (Wm wd be best) will go on Sunday with Horace to look up Karl & the Teutonia Karl knows all about Horace & he is very fondof children & wd be very kind to him & it wd make Horace intensely happy & fill up all his spare time if he cd go & loaf about the Teutonia. Poor Louisa has a bad day for her passage — She waits at Boulogne till one in the mg & then goes on.

I long to see the account of Bournemouth which you have received in London.

Yours my dear | E. D.

Brodie wd do to Chaperone Horace to the pier only the first time some of the boys wd be best. You had better ask Erny for the play tickets & pay for them.

If your money runs short ask Ras for 5£
