From Emma Darwin to H. E. Darwin [7 June 1864?]

Down

Tuesday

My dear Hen

We had your letter from Bromley yesterday so we shall not have one today.

Snow came from Ravens. at 1 o'clock & I asked her to stay & be sent home in evg. which she did & we went to stop the R. carriage but only met it in the village & made it drive us back to near Holwood & we walked home across the fields.

She returns tomorrow to Beatrice. She says Uncle Ras seemed so unwell when she saw him on Sat. that I am afraid he won't come. Mary Hills looks much better but her mouth is rather bad. Mrs F. still alive poor soul. Horace rather bad yesterday but able to do lessons—

I do so hope you are all right today, but I believe a little excitement keeps your head in order & that Aunt Susan is pretty brisk— Papa had a good day yesterday.
