From Emma Darwin to H. E. Darwin [1866 or 1865?]

the account of Louisa is not very good, tho' she can see well enough to watch Whiskey all the time they are driving out. W. I. very unwell in the old way. John came over from Dublin He had to ask leave to go to the Derby as no other reason wd have been sufficient. We like Miss Mackenzie very much but I don't believe any young person cd be interested in the loves of a woman of 36 & a stupid bald man of 50 always talking of the stocks.

Goodbye my love to Hope—

I have opened Emily T. Here is good news for poor Miss T. what is the gent. I can't read I must look up my wedding present & so must you & Lizzy.
