Dr M. is very pleasant so natural & only saying what he wants to say. He & Frank spent their afternoon in measuring the walk round the paddock, by running round timing themselves & by a string. They found it 400 yds to my surprise—within 40 yds of the sandwalk. B. and I are going to do our call on Holwood today. Dr. M. Knows a good many Ashanti officers. He said they liked Wimwood Reade, but remarked on his want of cleanliness, & that he was supported not to have washed while in Africa. What an odd place not to wash in. One cd have understood it in the N. Pole. Well I must write my note to ask Carry next week for part of Emily T. so Goodbye my dear.
More notes come from Mr Birks to B. he certainly takes immense pains, but gives her too m. to do. She has been up at 7 these 2 days & is going over to Amy for some help, while Fr. is at work here— E.D.
