From Emma Darwin to H. E. Litchfield [20 August 1880]

Friday mg

Just off to Dr C. & just recd your pleasant account I am so glad R. is all right. I remember At Charlotte telling me that Linton is most lovely to look at but not satisfac. to stay at owing to the enormous hills. I am sending this thro' Mrs Tansley—& I have sent another to the post office at Launceston. Leo. came in yesterday on an exped. for dry plates for his Swiss tour w. starts on Sat— He says they had lovely weather all the time & pleasant expeds— He likes Victor & thinks him a good husband. They were alone the last 3 or 4 days the Miss Bs being gone—

Bessy Pearce has arranged for Mrs Hurst to come in when she goes to Staff—

No more today so Goodbye my dear | E. D

Dr C. saw me at once thought there was little amiss. that my heart was weak & yr doctoring of Strychnine v. good, but I am to take Nux Vom. instead & leave off tea for a time as that does affect the heart. After all the other letter is gone thro' Mrs Tansley—

Snow is coming to lunch— Eras tol. after a v. bad day on Wed.

I find No 6 far more wholesome in hot weather than in winter.

H. & Ida come to dinner tonight on their way to Dover—
