My dearest Frank
I have been afraid to write to you before, lest my little drop of loving pity should cost you more than it is worth. We can hardly know your suffering; you are sorrowing for the most sweet, pure & gentle wife that ever walked on earth, whilst we mourn for the loss of a true warm sister's love.
Goodbye, and may the love we all have for you & the thought of the little one that is left for you to care for, be some small help to you in your great sorrow.
Your loving brother | Leonard Darwin
