Dearest Mother
I think you will know that I am very sorry to be away from home at this time, although I should be little or no use there. I have to be here to hand over my appointment, as my time is up on Saturday.
I am afraid that many of us are sadly wanting in the power of expressing our feelings, but I do hope and think that we all have been able to shew you in this time of trouble something of the love and honour that we feel towards you, both for your own sake, and for the sake of your life long devotion to our Father. Goodbye, dear Mother, till Saturday.
