Dear L—
None of us know any thing of a Palmer but G. is writing to Christy to ask him to write straight to you to tell you who he is.
Can he mistake u for another Darwin— Perhaps u had better tell him who u. are— F. is very poorly today so I will leave my news till later. How provoking about yr foot. Give it time eno' of u may have it ever so bad—
Barlaston enjoyed their exped. very heartily I heard from Uncle F. & he talks as if he had been of the party; but I think that cd not be—
We had Dr Hooker & Gen. Strachey on Sat. He is famous for some thing about India— He had a gt deal of talk w. both boys & was so interested in Geo's projection of the world that he has promised to present it to the Geog. Section of the Brit. Assoc. when Geo. has made an amended edition of it which they concocted together. This has done G. gt good, tho' he was better before— Horace keeps very well & is reading (a little) He has been v. busy helping F. about his Drosera ex. & I suspect these are what has knocked up F. He has had his mind so full of them for this month or more— He is gone to bed but I hope he is on the mend.
Yours my dear L. | E. D
We can not form any opinion as to whether u had better accept Palmer's offer.
