My dear Leo

Thank you for yr pleasant letter. I am glad B. behaves so prettily. It seems hardly worth while writing to you, as G. goes this evg. well warned as to cold— We have been having awful Krause worries these several days—of w. G. will tell you the upshot & I am glad to think every body thinks that F. had better do nothing now at any rate— They seem to be quite convinced that Krause has done a shabby trick— Our other worry has been about the Miles plan of you 7 giving them your legacies & I making up the difference so as to buy deferred anns. for Caroline & Harriet say of £10 each  Some of them think this will be such a slap in the face to U. Hensleigh, that I had better give it all as in F's way of dividing at the end of the year it comes to the same thing. Others are of the contrary opinion. It certainly will be something of a slap whichever way. Lily looks comf. & does not speak but enjoys Horace plans of sitting by her & egging her on to rebellion about every thing, eating & novel reading word game rages as usual— Alice dined with us on Friday—& Albert D. & poss. Elinor come to lunch today—

We breakfast late & have pleasant talks. Politics do not rage; which after Lord Carnarvon's snub to J. Bright in w. we all sympathized is not candid of us. Dr Moore dined to. He spoke of any thing like rebellion as out of the question & that ""Corpus"" wd have done no good for all these things. But he had no good reason to give. Mrs Moore is still lying down mostly; but he is satisfied w. her progress. My love to Frank | yours dear Leo | E.D.

I am sorry the jolly mess B's are not there.
