From H. E. Darwin to Emma Darwin [c. 1857]

Monday

My dear Mama

I could not write on Sunday for there was no post. At Eden Bridge there was nothing but an open carriage and a two horse fly so we took the two horse fly. Georgy has not been the least uncomfortable ether in the day or the night and Baby has been very good. I have not had one head ache, I sleep in a room to myself and a great big bed. The first day we came we went to Aunt Eliz today and on sunday she came to tea here. Edmond has got a pony called Jack and an owl we cleaned it out on Sunday. I hope Lizzy is happy at Aunt Sarahs. Do you think I can come home on Saterday. It is a very nice day. How is Willy. Edmund has got such a lot of pigoens. I am yours

H E Darwin

P.S. I am going to be very industrius. I must read Mansfield Park after dinner because there is reading aloud in the evening and I have so little time.
