From H. E. Darwin to G. H. Darwin [1868]

Dear G.

If you see Stokes in the street will you, if you can delicately, ask him if he has made out anything about the zones of colour in peacocks eyes. Nextly will you tell Frank I've taken a ticket for him for Israel in Egypt June 19th price 25s. I believe he said positively he wanted one but if he doesn't want one or if he would liek a Messiah June 15th or Selection 17th (Israel is much the finest to one who is so calssical as Frank) to write to me telling me what he desires & I'll write to Ollivier. I am only going to Israel. Do you want a tick? If so write by return post to me, & tell Frank to write to me at once too.

What does yr. man say who you speak of in yr letter to Frank. It wd be very new & all that it is true, but it might be put off till you were free in June & then do it. The little Welshers came back yesterday having come all the way from Dolgelly in a day & having had nothing to eat en route, foolish fellows. They stepped in at 12 past 8 brown dirty & hungry. Their tour seems to have been a gt success. Bad for Snowdon but lovely for Cader. They saw Ireland & in fact so much that we asked'em whether they hadn't seen the [Pallis] They went to dear Miss Roberts & went up to Henurt & saw the hall & the dear old place. On Thursday Frank Lizzie & I are going down to Sthampton to see the pQQQQ & pay him a little visit wh. will be good fun. Esther Parslow has gone home wh. is a gt. weight off our minds—the fits still continue I'm sorry to say—

Jos house are supposed to be coming here before the Hensleighs.

This is all I've time for—so goodbye dear George

Think over Norway—several people have screamed who have heard of Norway at that time

Yours H.E.D.
