From H. E. Darwin to G. H. Darwin [21 July 1868]

Dear George,

Papa wants me to thank you very very much for your Italian translation which is most excellent—every word as clear as daylight & every word most interesting to him. He says it is out & out better than any of Camilla's translations & he is extremely obliged to you. About Sw's letter, Papa has forwarded Sw's letter to G. R. Stephenson Esq Yacht Club Ryde, but don't guess it will reach—now another—nay, two more letters have come—one from his aunt asking us to forward if we know his address. We are sending to Yarmouth today & I daresay we shall find out—but what is the man about? We don't know Wm's address either. Is anything gone wrong, has he quarrelled with his family? When we kno we'll send u G.R.S.'s address, tho' I dont' see that that makes it certain of catching SW, for his family must kno he was going there. The ponies come today. Our stable has 3 stalls so when you come we shall be able have a horse from Sthampton or Ryde. Also there is just one bedroom for u the rest of the boys will have to lodge out. We are in m. better humour with the place, & Mrs Cameron keeps us nice & lively. Yesterday the little Abyssinian Prince & his keeper Capt Speedy came to be phoed. they dressed up in Abyssinian dress & we went over to see them. The little boy has a v. piteous apathetic sort of look, like a lost dog rather. Capt. Speedy is about 6ft 5in & he looked enormous swathed up in great white cloths
