Dear Geo.

I enclose you this acct of Ed accd to mother's orders. It is pretty bad. & poor fellow I don't wish him to live for himself—tho' it is cruel for Uncle Ch. & Aunt Eliz. & a pity for the good of the children

We've just had Wm. here for 2 nights— He was very jolly & full of his Sthampton reforms— He got to see Mr [Fremantle] about how the Ch. [org] works. He wished to know whether giving away no money lessens influence of clergymen & [distsich] Visitors & Mr F. cant but allow that it does to a certain extent. This is a great stumbling block to the Sthampton clergy.

R. is getting on very well & is I trust well—but I don't feel as if we'd better hollow all we are well out of this wood. Uncle Ras not v. well—but I've not managed to go since Sunday wh. is rather lng.

You'll be glad to hear I thght Laura gng on well & was cheered by my visit in to [Penn]— Also Willy seems a better job. He has some ideas of dng something if he can something to do. be good large if certainly

your affec | H.S.L.

We go to Down Sat.
