My dear Mother,
It is a most sad thing [illeg] Williams death, and I am very sorry for them all, the only trifle of comfort for Leith hill is that they [hire] herQQQQ [illeg] of Margaret & be cheered by the children. The suddenness of the death is almost a blessing.
Please ask father to read the enclosed from my friend Dr Octavius Sturges of 85 Winpole, he is the only thoroughly liberal practising Dr as to womens medical education I ever talked to.
If F. agrees will he write him one line, or me to forward to him. I am sorry to hear Horace has not been [brisk].
When does [Ouless] come down again? I am very curious to hear about your portrait. I am just off to spend Sunday with Dashwood I had a splendid day's hunting yesterday & feel as fresh as a kitten
Goodbye dear Mother
Your [affectionate] | W.ED
