From W. E. Darwin to G. H. Darwin 2 September [1867]

Southampton

Sept 2nd

My Dear Geo.

as I gather from Mama's letter today you are at home. My plans are these if suitable to you a Flauto Magico; we meet at Kings X on Tuesday Sept 17th & retire to Alford by the 12. train (not midnight) I think this will be more economical as to time than if we went down on Monday night. Send me word if this is on the square. I envy your having seen the last of Kate Terry, the account in the time's today gave heartier & better praise than I have ever seen in print; it is quite preposterous her getting married, at least as far as we are concerned, & I fear she will find it terribly flat even with £10,000 a year.

Please tell Mama that she never forgets anything (this is wrote sarcastic) and that I want to know the date of aunt Susan's death—.

Yours affect | W.E.D
