My dear Darwin,
Glaisher tells me you have kindly promised to contribute to the new Astron. magazine `"The Observatory. Could you let me have a popular account of your recent papers on precession in R.S., Monthly Notices & Phil. Mag. I have read them with great interest & think they would be appreciated if you could make them intelligible to the vulgar. You might give what Routh used to call a General Explanation. I should be very thankful if you could let me have it before the end of this month, as it is a great thing for us to make a good start.
In haste, | W. H. M. Christie
P.S. Do you feel at all inclined to join the R.A.S.
