From G. G. Stokes to G. H. Darwin 9 August 1878

Denver Rectory Downham

9th Aug. 1878

My dear Sir,

I heard from Mr. White of the survival of your paper at the R.S., but nothing has at present been done about reference as it was subsequent to the last meeting of the Council.

It will be no [slight] [sacrifice] to let the MS. lie at the rooms of the R.S.: only let us know by the 3d Thursday in October what is to be done with it. If there be an abstract I will direct that this be not sent to the printer to be set up till further orders.

For withdrawal the current [illeg] is for the author if a Fellow or the Communicator if not to write a note to the Secretary asking to withdraw the paper and then if not read it will be sent back at once or given up to the author if called for. If read but not [acted] on the leave of the Council is required for the return.

So I will let the paper lie where it is till I hear further.

I am going today to Ireland (4 Windsor Terrace QQQQhill, Co of Dublin) and am to be in Dublin for the Association week.

Yours sincerely | G. G. Stokes

G. H. Darwin Esq
